SmileBack

Summary / Story -
The creative background of this song was when there was one evening, I passed by a coffee shop of debauchery. It just so happened that a lady came out from the shop to have a fresh air. Although she wore heavy makeup, but the makeup cannot covered the disconsolation showed on her face, telling me that she was regreting the time and space and cherishing the memories of the old days. After experiencing the scene, even thought it was only a short time contact and we did not have any conversation, the scene kept came up in my mind when I kept walking. I was thinking in a life like this, she must have all sorts of feelings. There were too many memories that she did’t want to recall, or there were too much struggles, hardships, etc…I walked and thought more and more. So I sat down in a noodle stall and ordered some food. But when I was eating, the scene kept coming into my mind. Hence, I asked the stall owner for a piece of menu paper and finished the beginning melody of “Smile.” In a later time, I worked on the soundtrack for the movie “Smile;” a movie theme song with the same name just matches up many feelings and sighs in life. This is an experience in my composing career.
